About Me

Monika Lawson

Translation has always interested me because of my love for the Czech language, it creates a bridge between the two languages and gives me the opportunity to help my fellow Czech people through the difficult transition of moving to a new country. Translation study at AUT helped develop my English academically and gain essential skills as a translator.

Originally from Cesky Krumlov, educated at the University of South Bohemia and the University of European and Regional Studies. After my study, I moved to New Zealand to gain experience in an English-speaking country and have been living here now for over 10 years. Through hard work and persistence, I joined the Ministry of Education NZ as a member of the ESOL team, where my main role is to coordinate funding for schools for children whose first language is not English.

I am a member of the NZSTI (New Zealand Society of Translators & Interpreters), which connects language professionals in New Zealand. My translations are recognised by Immigration NZ, NZQA, NZ Government, NZ universities, employers and other organisations.
